Pendle Cup
The Pendle Cup is a fantastic event that allows all the college sports teams to compete against each other. It’s a great way to bring competition alive in the second term, once Freshers are settled in their teams. It’s also a fun way to get involved with a variety of different sports, pendle sports from football to netball. The team with the most points at the end of the competition wins the trophy.
The college’s accommodation blocks surround a large grassy quad space, which is used for a wide range of events. In addition to the Pendle Rooms social centre, the college has its own bar, and there are many music events, quiz nights and sporting events throughout the year. The Pendle Cup is one of the most popular events, and it’s a great way to meet people from all over the world.
Pendle College was founded in 1974 and is named after the area of Pendle in Lancashire, a region of legend and folklore. Its logo features a Pendle witch riding on a broomstick, and the college has close ties with local communities. Its students also take part in a number of sustainability challenges and the annual University Challenge style quiz, as well as the Intercollegiate Debating Competition.
There are also a number of other opportunities for new international students to get involved. For example, the college’s International Buddies are a group of Pendle undergraduate students who contract new international students before their arrival in Lancaster and meet up with them during Welcome Week. This is a fantastic way to ease the transition into a new cultural environment and to make friends before starting classes.
The Friends of Pendle Hospital have been busy this month, receiving a number of donations that will help to improve patient experience. These include a specialist wheelchair and stacking chairs for Reedyford ward and a water fountain donated by Clitheroe-based Paper Cups. The Friends of Pendle are a group of volunteers who work hard to provide additional items that the hospital does not receive from NHS funding. The group is always grateful for support from the community.
Warriors
Warriors is a brand new college sports club, which offers an excellent range of sporting opportunities for both male and female students. The club’s aim is to promote participation in sport and to encourage students pendle sports to excel in their chosen activities. It also aims to build social and cultural connections between the club members and the local community.
The club is a great way to get involved in sport at college, and provides a range of social activities throughout the year. There are also opportunities to compete in non-sporting events, such as a pub quiz and various eating competitions. The club also organises an end of year event called the Pendle Cup, which brings competition alive at college and provides a great way to celebrate the year’s success.
Although the Warriors have had their ups and downs over the years, they have made some impressive achievements. They reached the NBA finals in 1964 with a team led by basketball legend Wilt Chamberlain, and in 1967 with a reconstituted squad. In the latter season, the Warriors overcame a 3-1 series deficit to win the championship.
In addition, the club has strong partnerships with other organizations, including the city of Oakland, and holds regular workshops to ensure that residents are kept informed about the project. This allows residents to provide feedback and comment on issues that may affect them.
Another benefit of the Warriors is its partnership with Pendle Premier Club, which offers discounts on equipment, a free sample size kit set, and free delivery on all online shop orders. It also provides access to discounted British Triathlon Federation membership, which saves clubs over PS100 a year.
Competitions
Students have a range of different opportunities to take part in competitions. These are a great way to bring a sense of community to the college, and to provide a fun and social outlet for students who may be stressed or feeling down. These competitions also allow students to test their skills against other students in a more competitive environment.
Pendle has a number of successful sporting teams. Last year alone, the netball A team won their league, and the table tennis, women’s darts and dominoes teams came runner up. This makes Pendle one of the most successful colleges for sports in the area.
The college is also looking forward to the opening of its new Steven Burke Sports Hub, and has received letters of support from a variety of partners.
