Acoustic Ceiling Wood – The Natural Look and Feel of Natural Wood
Natural wood is a beautiful and timeless material, but it also has limitations in terms of acoustic performance. Acoustic ceiling wood allows you to take advantage of the natural look and feel of wood, while adding acoustic control.
Typically, a percentage of sound energy travels through the acoustic wood ceiling and is absorbed by a 3-6# density fiberglass backing material mounted behind it. The perforation pattern of the acoustic wood ceiling can affect how much sound it absorbs.

SoftGrid(r) Flux
SoftGrid(r) Flux is a modern geometric acoustic ceiling solution that connects interwoven modules of panels made from our Soft Sound(r) material to create an intricate web on your ceiling. Its interweaving design can be used to provide acoustic comfort to an entire room or in clusters for focused control, and it can be configured with a variety of colors and wood textures to complement your space.
Acoustic ceilings can be designed to provide both absorption and diffusion. Absorption, which can be achieved by perforations, reveals or grooves, helps to reduce and control problematic noise at scales ranging from assembly halls to conference rooms.
Diffusion, on the other hand, is the scattering of reflected sound that can help to avoid echo and “ringing” at smaller scales. Diffusion is often preferred in performance arts halls, houses of worship and lecture spaces to enhance natural sound quality without compromising acoustic control.
Unlike traditional acoustic foam, which is typically pasted to the back of acoustic ceiling panels, acoustic wood ceiling systems can be shaped and installed like any other wood ceiling. This allows them to be installed quickly, without the need for large acoustic foam panels and is more sustainable than traditional acoustic ceilings.
The acoustic ceilings offered by ASI Architectural include both traditional acoustic foam acoustic ceiling wood and acoustic wood. Using both types of acoustic ceiling systems on a project can significantly increase the level of acoustic control.
Our acoustic wood ceilings are manufactured from either domestic or imported wood species and have clear, matte sheen finishes. They are available in a variety of stain matches, as well as custom color and texture options.
ASI’s acoustic ceilings are backed by the strength and stability of our patented structural engineering methods. They can handle up to 200kg per square meter and can be custom fabricated to fit the specific needs of your project.
Whether you choose to install our traditional acoustic foam ceilings or our acoustic wood ceiling systems, you can be confident that your final project will look great and function as intended. We will work with you to select the best acoustic ceilings for your project and install them efficiently, safely, and affordably.

SoftSpan(tm) 48
When architects and designers need the look of coffered ceilings or timber trellises without the weight, they turn to Arktura’s SoftSpan(tm) 48. This award-winning acoustic baffle system delivers the look of closely gridded coffered or timber trellis systems to spaces with a streamlined look and enhanced acoustics. Constructed from our high-performance PET Soft Sound acoustical material, this innovative ceiling system is available in multiple sizes and colors to fit any design vision.
This system can be adapted to a wide range of applications, including healthcare and education. It is a versatile modular ceiling baffle that is lightweight, acoustically engineered, and easy to install. It also has an open-grid design that makes it simple to integrate systems (lighting, HVAC, rig points, plumbing, life safety, etc.) above or below the modules, while allowing for easy integration with our bridge clips.
The SoftSpan 48 system combines the dimensional grid of SoftGrid(tm) with Arktura’s own SoundBar(r) linear baffles to create a flexible, scalable system that allows for near-endless configurations and creative layouts. It is available in 4 sizes; 24, 48, 48A, and 96, with beams acoustic ceiling wood of different heights intersecting one another for a more layered look, enhancing acoustics while reducing the impact of noise across any space.
The new connectivity between these two acoustic baffle systems gives architects and designers the freedom to explore creative options that are not always possible with traditional coffered or timber trellis designs. It also brings a wide range of new lighting options, including inline and backlighting. Designed to be carbon neutral, these innovative products are an excellent solution for a greener built environment. They also allow for a more contemporary take on the acoustic trellis ceiling system of the future.
